About the event:
In connection with the Christy Lee Rogers: The Muses exhibit, The Muses Educational Series will encourage visitors to imagine, engage, and create based on inspiration gained from The Muses through a series of hands-on workshops and events connected with each of the nine Greek Muses. Sessions will be held at the Parthenon, off-site, or virtually — all through partnerships with Nashville creatives and beloved local institutions. Inspired by the Greek Muses and their unique areas of influence, the workshops will include modern dance instruction, comedy improv, writing seminars, and more to enhance the exhibition’s impact on our local community.
About the speaker:
Dr. Erika Grundstrom is Vanderbilt University's Director of Astronomy Labs and is an experienced educator with Vanderbilt's Program for Talented Youth. She pops up at other schools in the area with an inflatable planetarium show.
As a kid, Erika lived on a farm close to the Canadian border, where she thought the Northern Lights were normal (yet totally awesome). But it was learning about constellations and their mythology that sparked a love of the stars, and it was "Star Trek: The Next Generation" that set her on a path to astrophysicist. When away from astronomy, she loves to partner dance with her husband and hang with their two kids.
